MESTIZO ROCK from Chile
Rock, Reggae, Bolero, Guaracha …hot to dance

Founded 1976 in Santiago by the LABRA brothers after the military coup in Chile, the group has been strongly inspired by the songs of Violeta Parra and Víctor Jara.

SOL y LLUVIA is one of the most important bands in the Chilean music history and has consolidated its position as the popular voice of the country, caring out large concentrations and concerts.

Their rhythms and styles – known as Mestizorock - are hot to dance and spiced with lyrics of social critic and love, taking their poetry and force into people’s heart- Their fans are young and enthusiastic.

SOL y LLUVIA incorporates native instruments („charango“, Andean „quenas“ and drums) creating its compositions out of an Andean base and achieving a fusion of „hot rock“, „bolero“, „reggae“, „cueca“ and „guaracha“. The result is a powerful and rhythmic sound which is the very particular feature of their musical creation

In 1990 SOL y LLUVIA carried out the most emotional and largest concert of the epoch. Chile returned to democracy and under the motto: „ADIOS GENERAL, ADIOS CARNIVAL“, they gathered more than 30.000 people into the Santa Laura Stadium in Santiago

On April 9, 1999 , SOL y LLUVIA is the first Chilean band gathering more than 60,000 people at Santiago’s NATIONAL STADIUM to celebrate their 21 years of life. They thus demonstrate that their force is in keeping together living a very special, contingent, and powerful moment, at which more people were added every day.

2007 SOL y LLUVIA had been performing in Europe at famous Festivals such as
Festival MUNDIAL/Netherlands,
AMSTERDAM ROOTS FESTIVAL /Netherlands and

Festival LATINOAMERICANDO Milano/ Italy amongst famous artists e.g. Youssou N´Dour, Ravi Shankar, Rubén Blades y Gilberto Gil
